# How to make a UGC video ad for your product with AI

In Made’s Marketing Studio, switch Output to Video, add your product photo, pick a UGC style such as Review, choose who holds the product, and type the line they say in quotes. The studio works in two steps: Nano Banana 2 makes a first frame of the person with your product, then Veo 3.1 Lite turns that frame into a 4, 6 or 8 second handheld-phone clip with the spoken line. You need a Made account to generate, and Generate shows the price for both steps before anything runs.

## The workflow

1. **Switch to Video and pick a UGC style**
   Open Marketing Studio and set Output to Video. Click the style chip to open Choose a look, stay on Quick styles, and pick from the UGC category: Review, Unboxing, At home, Try-on, Demo or Get ready with me. Review is the default: a person on a sofa holds the product beside their face and talks to the camera. Demo shows only hands, with no face.
2. **Add your product photos**
   Click Product and upload up to 3 photos of the same product from different angles, as JPG, PNG or WebP under 16 MB, or use Import a product link to pull photos from your store page. Uploading and importing need a Made account; you can pick a sample product before signing in. Use a sharp photo with the label readable. The prompt tells the model to keep the shape, colors and every printed word as shown, and it can only keep what it can see.
3. **Choose who holds it**
   Click Avatar and pick one of the 18 presets, or choose Create avatar. Generate makes four candidates from your description, as its own priced run. Upload turns a photo into an avatar once you confirm it is you, or that you have the person’s permission to use their likeness in ads. With no avatar, the model casts one fictional adult who suits the product.
4. **Write the line in quotes**
   Put the words the person says in double quotes in the direction box. Words outside the quotes describe the moment and go to both the first frame and the video; the quoted words become the spoken line, and several quoted phrases are joined into one line in order. Keep it to a sentence or two for an 8-second clip. The box takes up to 1,500 characters.
5. **Check the price, generate, then watch with sound**
   Pick 9:16 or 16:9, 4, 6 or 8 seconds, and 1–4 variations; 9:16 suits these styles, since the first-frame prompt describes a vertical phone shot. Generate starts only when your balance covers both steps. Each card shows “Setting up the shot…”, then “Filming your video…”. The studio page starts the video once the frame is ready, so keep Marketing Studio open in the same browser until then. Check the label, the hands and every word of the line.

Recorded Made demonstration

## A sofa review of a skincare cream, from one packshot

This recorded example from September 25, 2026 used the Review style with the Luma Daily Cream sample product and the preset avatar Grace. It was made with the studio’s own prompts and the same models, run on the provider directly rather than through the browser tool: Nano Banana 2 made the first frame, then Veo 3.1 Lite animated it for 8 seconds with the quoted line. The video shown is a web-sized copy. The cream is a Made-generated sample with a short label, so it doesn’t show how fine print holds up, and one clip says nothing about how often a result works.

## Prompts you can inspect and adapt

Recorded generation prompt

### The first-frame prompt the studio used

```
A vertical 9:16 still that is the first frame of a casual smartphone video posted by a real customer.
The person sits on a sofa at home facing their phone camera, holding the product up beside their face with the front toward the camera, mid-sentence expression.
Image 1 is the product. Keep the product exactly as shown: the same shape, proportions, colors, materials, closure and every printed word or label. Never add, remove, or change labels, logos, or text on it, and never add a label to a product that has none.
Image 2 is the person. Keep their face, hair, skin tone, age and build exactly; keep their outfit unless the scene calls for something else.
Natural window light, realistic skin texture, slightly imperfect handheld framing, lips closed in a relaxed moment just before speaking.
No words, captions, logos, stickers or app interface anywhere except the product's own label.
```

Image 1 was the product photo and Image 2 the avatar. The studio builds this for you. It has since added one line before the lighting line: “Show exactly one of the product. The camera is the phone filming the scene, so no phone, mirror reflection, or extra hands appear.”

Recorded generation prompt

### The video prompt, with the spoken line

```
The person talks to the camera like they are telling a friend about the product, turns it to show the front, and uses small natural hand gestures.
The person says, in a natural conversational voice, exactly: "I have tried so many creams, and this is the one I keep reaching for."
One continuous handheld smartphone take. The person and the product stay exactly as they look in the first frame. No text or captions appear.
```

The direction was only the quoted sentence, so it became the spoken line. The studio now also adds “Those words only: no greeting, exclamation or extra word before or after.” right after the line.

Prompt recipe to adapt

### Write your own direction

```
Evening, just after washing her face, relaxed and unhurried. "Okay, two weeks in. This is the one cream I actually keep reaching for."
```

Type this in the direction box. The unquoted part sets the moment for both steps; only the quoted part is spoken. Use words a real customer would say, and no claim your product can’t back up.

## How a UGC video is priced

One first-frame image, plus the video by its length (4, 6 or 8 seconds), times the number of variations. The total for both steps appears on Generate before you run it.

The first frame is one Nano Banana 2 image at 1K. The video is Veo 3.1 Lite, priced by the second, so a longer clip costs more. Each variation is a full frame and video, so four variations cost four times one.

Signed in, Generate shows the exact quote for your settings and checks that your balance covers both steps before the first frame starts, so you don’t pay for a frame that can’t become a video. If the video’s price changes before it starts, the card asks you to accept the new price. Failed generations are refunded. A new avatar from Create avatar is a separate run with its own price.

## What to review before you use the result

| What you see | What to try |
| --- | --- |
| The label changes or gains new words | Use a sharper photo with the label facing the camera, and add a second angle if the label wraps around. The prompt asks the model to keep every printed word, but small text can still be redrawn; check the frame before you post. |
| The person adds words or skips part of the line | Shorten the line or pick 8 seconds, and watch with sound before using it. The prompt asks for your words only, but the model decides the delivery. |
| The video copies a bad first frame | The video keeps the person and product as they look in the first frame, and it starts as soon as that frame is ready. Test a new product or avatar with 1 variation before making 4. |
| The card stops after the first frame | The page starts the video when it sees the frame finish, so reopen Marketing Studio in the same browser. If the card shows a new price, accept it with Make it for…; if the video failed, use Try the video again. |

## Work with Claude and Made

The Made connector can run the same two models, Nano Banana 2 and Veo 3.1 Lite, with your photos attached. It doesn’t have Marketing Studio’s UGC styles, sample products or preset avatars, and the studio’s automatic frame-then-video pipeline isn’t a connector tool: Claude makes two separate generations, and you approve the frame in between.

Conversation starter

### Ask your assistant

```
Use Made to make a UGC-style video ad for my product. First check the catalog for Nano Banana 2 and make one vertical 9:16 image from my attached product photo and person photo: the person sits on a sofa at home, holding the product beside their face with the label toward the camera, like the first frame of a phone video. Keep the product’s shape, colors and label exactly. Show me the image and its price before going on. After I approve it, animate it with Veo 3.1 Lite for 8 seconds, with the person saying exactly: "[your line]". Show me that price first, then return the video link.
```

Use photos of yourself or of people who agreed to appear in ads. If the client can’t attach your photos or doesn’t list these models, use Marketing Studio, which runs both steps and quotes them together.

## Questions about this workflow

**Do I need to film anything?**

No. You add a product photo, the person comes from an avatar or is cast by the model, and the video is generated from a still first frame. It looks like phone footage, but nobody filmed it, so don’t present it as a real customer’s review.

**Can I use my own face?**

Yes. Under Avatar, choose Create avatar, then Upload, and confirm the photo is you or that you have the person’s permission to use their likeness in ads.

**Why does it make an image first?**

The still fixes how the person and the product look. Veo 3.1 Lite then animates that exact frame and keeps them as they appear in it, so a clear first frame is what the video is built on.

**Can I make a longer or scripted ad?**

UGC styles make one continuous clip of 4, 6 or 8 seconds. The Templates tab has UGC scenes such as Honest Review and Doorstep Unboxing at 5, 8 or 10 seconds, and for a scripted ad with voice and cutaways, Marketing Studio links to Made’s UGC studio.
