How does the AI object remover work?

Made runs two steps in one operation: a segmentation model locates the object you described and generates a mask, then an AI inpainting model repaints the masked area with background that matches the rest of the scene.

What is the difference between Object Remover and Background Remover?

Object Remover erases one selected object or area and keeps the rest of the photo intact. Background Remover does the opposite: it keeps the foreground subject and removes the entire background, returning a transparent PNG.

Do I have to select the object manually?

No. You can simply describe it in plain language — “the coffee cup on the table” — and Made detects it automatically. If you want precise control, brush a mask over the area instead; the mask is used exactly as drawn.

What happens if Made can’t find the object I described?

The workflow tells you no match was found rather than guessing. Try a more specific description, such as the object’s color or position, or brush a mask over it yourself.

Can I remove several objects at once?

Each request removes one described object or masked area — when a description matches several things, the first detected match is used. Run the tool again on the result to remove additional objects.

What fills the space where the object was?

AI inpainting generates new background based on the surrounding pixels. Simple surfaces like walls, grass, and sky usually fill cleanly; complex patterns, reflections, or areas that overlap other subjects may need a second pass or a tighter mask.

What resolution will the result be?

The removal is processed at up to 1,024 pixels on the longest side and returned as a JPG. If you need a larger delivery file, run the result through Image Upscaler afterwards.
