Questions about Unblur Image

Can AI really unblur an image?

For soft, low-resolution, or mildly blurry photos, yes. Faces improve the most, because CodeFormer is trained to restore them. Strong motion blur or badly missed focus loses detail that can’t be rebuilt reliably.

How does the unblur tool work?

Made sends the photo to CodeFormer on fal.ai. It restores every face it finds and sharpens the rest with Real-ESRGAN, returning a PNG at twice the width and height.

Will the face still look like the person?

CodeFormer is tuned here to stay close to the face in your photo rather than a generic clean one. Very blurry faces give it less to go on, so compare Before and After.

How is this different from Image Upscaler?

Unblur is for soft photos and faces: it restores and sharpens at 2×. Image Upscaler (Topaz) is for making an already sharp image much larger, up to 4×.

Will it fix motion blur?

Mild softness usually improves; streaks and doubled edges often can’t be reversed.

How much does it cost?

1 to 3 credits a photo depending on size, shown before you run it.
