Precise or creative

FLUX 3 from Black Forest Labs upscales 1.5×, 2×, or 3×, up to 4K. Precise keeps your clip exactly as it was, only sharper. Creative paints in texture the source never had. Both render at 24 fps and keep your audio.

The same 320-pixel clip, both at 3×.

Drag across any image. Each pair is the file we uploaded and exactly what came back. The sources are shrunk, compressed copies of larger images. Use a mode to open the tool with it set.

Upscale a video in three steps

  1. 1

    Drop a photo or video

Any photo, including iPhone HEIC, or an MP4, MOV, or WebM clip. Longer clips are trimmed to their first 20 seconds. Paste works too. Your file stays in the browser until you upscale.

  2. 2

    Pick a mode and scale

For photos, pick a mode for faces, old photos, text, or art, then 2× or 4×. For video, pick SeedVR2 (2× or 4×) or FLUX 3 (1.5×, 2×, or 3×). The finished size and the exact price show before you pay.

  3. 3

    Compare and download

Drag across your result to compare it with the original, zoom in on details, then download. Every upscale is saved to Assets.

Pay per upscale

Priced by the size of what comes back. The exact price is on the button before you pay · failed upscales are refunded · credits roll over

Photos, Topaz
By the megapixels of the finished image, in steps of 24 MP.
Video, SeedVR2
By every output megapixel of every frame, so a clip’s length, frame rate and scale set the price.
Video, FLUX 3
By every second of each output megapixel, at 24 fps whatever the source. Creative costs more than precise.

Questions about upscaling video

What does the video upscaler do?

It makes your clip larger, up to 4K, and rebuilds detail in every frame. Pick one of two models. SeedVR2, ByteDance’s video restoration model, goes 2× or 4× and keeps motion steady from frame to frame. FLUX 3, Black Forest Labs’ video upscaler, goes 1.5×, 2×, or 3×, in a precise mode that stays true to the clip or a creative mode that adds new detail.

SeedVR2 or FLUX 3?

SeedVR2 is the cheapest for most 24 fps clips and keeps your frame rate. FLUX 3 gave the crispest result in our tests and left faces as they were, and its 1.5× takes 720p straight to 1080p. FLUX 3 always renders at 24 fps, so a 30 or 60 fps clip costs it no more than a 24 fps one, but comes back at 24 fps. FLUX 3 Creative invents texture such as skin, hair, and fabric. It can shift a face slightly, so check close-ups.

How much does it cost?

It’s priced by the size of the result. SeedVR2 bills each output megapixel of every frame, so the price follows your clip’s length, frame rate and the scale. FLUX 3 bills each second of every output megapixel, and Creative costs more than precise. Made reads your file and shows the exact price on the Upscale button before you pay. Failed upscales are refunded.

What are the limits?

Each video upscale covers up to 20 seconds. A longer clip is trimmed to its first 20 seconds in your browser, and a large file or a WebM is re-encoded as MP4 before upload. Results go up to 4K (3840 × 2160), and the tool greys out any scale that would pass it.

How long does it take?

SeedVR2 restores every frame, so it takes a while: about 40 to 50 seconds of processing per second of video at 1080p and 1440p, and longer at 4K. A 4-second clip takes 2 to 4 minutes. FLUX 3 finished 4-second clips at about 1.6 megapixels in 40 seconds to 2 minutes. You can leave the tool, and the result waits in Assets.

Does it keep the audio?

Yes. The sound from your clip is carried over to the upscaled video.

Does it change the frame rate?

SeedVR2 keeps the frame rate and length of your clip. FLUX 3 always renders at 24 fps for the same length, so a 60 fps clip comes back at 24 fps. To keep a high frame rate, use SeedVR2.

Which clips work best?

Soft or low-resolution footage: AI video, phone clips, and older recordings. It can’t recover detail that was never recorded, such as heavy motion blur, so check faces and text in the result.

Can I upscale photos too?

Yes. Drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP in the tool, or open the Image Upscaler. Topaz enlarges photos 2× or 4×, priced per image before you pay.

Can I upscale from code or an AI agent?

Yes. Call the Made API with the model seedvr_video_upscale, flux_video_upscale, or flux_video_upscale_creative, the same ones the tool uses, or connect Made to your AI assistant over MCP. Pass a job ID as the source to upscale a video you just generated.
