Multi-Platform Image Resizing Template

Turn one approved source into a reviewed set of Story, square, portrait, and landscape deliveries without stretching the image or losing its focal subject.

Created with Made · Reviewed for rights, safety, and workflow accuracy.

Street portrait adapted to four social media aspect ratios
A reviewed set of square, portrait, and vertical social deliveries.

Treat each ratio as a separate composition

The template preserves one source but reviews every delivery independently. A crop that works in landscape can remove the focal subject when reused in a narrow Story frame.

Choose one fit rule per destination

Crop-to-fill produces edge-to-edge media, while fit-with-padding preserves the full image. The template records that decision for each output instead of applying one hidden default to the whole set.

Required inputs

Bring four delivery decisions.

Made can prefill the tested batch request and route it through the Image Resizer. Add the source, confirm the destinations, and review the fit rule for each result.

01Source image
The approved master image with enough resolution for the largest delivery.
02Destinations
The named placements and exact pixel dimensions required for delivery.
03Fit rule
Whether each output may crop, must preserve the full source, or can use padding.
04Focal subject
The face, product, or composition area that every version must protect.

Prompt

Create 9:16 Story, 1:1 square, 4:5 portrait, and 16:9 landscape versions of this image. Keep the subject recognizable, never stretch the source, and use padding only when cropping would remove the focal subject.

Made Auto was tested to interpret the batch instruction and route the deterministic dimension work to the published Image Resizer workflow.

Run the workflow

  1. 1

    Approve the source master

Start with the highest-resolution source and identify the focal subject that must survive every crop.

  2. 2

    List exact delivery targets

Record each platform placement with width, height, and output format.

  3. 3

Choose crop or padding per ratio

Use edge-to-edge cropping where safe and padding when the full subject must remain visible.

  4. 4

    Review and name every export

Inspect each composition, verify its dimensions, and use destination-specific file names.

Why it works

The workflow separates immutable source content from destination-specific crop decisions, so a single approved master can produce several auditable exports.

Adjustment tips

  • Keep extra negative space in the source when you know both wide and tall outputs are required.
  • Review faces, product edges, and embedded text separately in every aspect ratio.

Limitations

  • A source framed too tightly may require padding or a separate image-expansion workflow for extreme aspect ratios.
  • The template does not guarantee compliance with a platform whose current size or safe-area specification has not been confirmed.
